RO systems are also safe and easy to maintain. There are few moving parts because your water pressure does all the work. Cleaning is a snap and filters are accessible and readily available.
RO systems typically have a 4-stage filtering process:
Removes various types of sediments to both improve your water and protect the other stages of filters
SEMI-PERMEABLE RO MEMBRANE/FILTER
Removes dissolved inorganic solid materials by pushing water through a semi-permeable membrane
ACTIVATED CARBON (AC) FILTER
Removes contaminants that cause off tastes and odors and can reduce the effectiveness of the other stages of filters
A second AC filter which “polishes” the water filtered through the other three stages
As with other types of water filtering systems, RO systems come in various sizes to meet the specific need:
All contaminants filtered out at every stage are sent down the drain and you’re left with fresh, delicious water.
POINT OF USE SYSTEM
Referred to as “POU”, these are installed at a sink, refrigerator, ice maker, etc. in a residential setting.
POINT OF ENTRY SYSTEM
Referred to as “POE”, these systems are installed where the main water line comes in to a home or business.
COMMERCIAL RO SYSTEM
Typically much larger than residential systems, commercial RO systems range in size from 200 to 50,000 gallons of water flow per day and are customizable to meet the needs of the business. Some larger commercial systems require the use of electric pumps to assure adequate water pressure.
